Educaional Tech. Philosophy
Technology, technology, technology. The word used to scare me. I went out of my way not to take a technology class. What was wrong with the world before we had computers, cell phones, or Play Stations? What happened to using your imagination? Entering into what we call the net generation; it is virtually impossible not to have some sort of technology in your home, in your classroom, or even in your hand. Children of today are born with a computer chip in their mouth instead of a silver spoon, so in order to reach some children you have to integrate technology into the classroom. I strongly believe that if you want the students to learn and stay focused in the classroom you are going to have to integrate some sort of technology. I believe that integrating technology should be a common occurrence in the classroom. I also believe that a person should not let technology control them. A person should be able to live without technology and not let it control their lives.
Technology can be a fun and a great way to learn. Not only are the students learning, but the teacher is learning too. Technology opens so many more doors to teaching. Instead of teaching a subject one way, we now, with technology, have fifty different ways to teach the same exact thing while being able to reach all learners instead of just a handful. How fascinating has teaching and learning become? The possibilities are endless now. How I would love to be a student growing up in the digital age. I vow as an upcoming teacher to integrate technology into everything I can, to make my students more interested in learning. I vow to ask a student how to work a piece of equipment when I do not know how. I also vow to never quit learning and make my students feel inadequate when they do not know how to do what is asked of them. This is going to be a learning experience not just for my students, but for me also. And I am excited about that!
